MA-Safety on the trails

From: drewclan11 (drewclan@aol.com) | Date: 2002-06-23 16:47:15 UTC
Good Sunday! I don't mean to sound paranoid or to trigger unease in
my wonderful letterboxing friends, but I'm off to a charity
motorcycle ride next week in Massachusetts for Molly Bish, who was
abducted from her work as a lifeguard a couple of years ago, and have
been thinking about us, wandering around in the woods on our own.

One of the oldest pieces of outdoor safety is "think twice before
going alone." May I suggest we all consider that well-seasoned
advice?

Please check out this chilling part of the Bish family's website
concerning outdoor parks in Massachusetts towns beginning with the
letter "W."

Good advice, I had just that same thought while in the woods yesterday with the
little ones.  Sad it's come to having to think this way.
Take care all.

Jay!!Great to hear this from someone whom we all know. I have been a
hike leader for many years, and now that I mainly letterbox, still
preach not going it alone. One of the reasons that sometimes plants a
seed is that if one 'should' fall or get in some trouble needing help,
just take a minute and think of the people that have to give up their
time to come get you. [sort of a guilt trip, but as an old one, I'm
good at that ] Thanks for the reminder.
